Adelaide Explorer: South Australia Museum and Migration Museum (and Rundle)

So on day 2 of North Terrace Museum Tripping, I hit up the SA Museum and the Migration Museum. So it turns out the SA Museum is the Natural History museum, which are always pretty strange (all of these fake animals). Anyways I didn't stay there too long, as I got infuriated with the placement/setup of the exhibits. It was like a time machine back to the fifties. It claimed to have the most "aboriginal artifacts" which meant cases and cases of stuff labelled only by where they were found and the white explorer who found them. The Aboriginal Culture Gallery was right night to the Mammal exhibit and it had white wash all over it. Even listening to the tour guide with the children... umm there are still aboriginal people... please stop pretending they are a dead culture. Anyways the liberal arts person in me was VERY unhappy. But going up to the third floor, they had a AWESOME selection of minerals. Huge colorful rocks. Very cool.

Then I went to the Migration Museum. It took forever to find, but I was SO glad I did. It did everything that the SA Museum did wrong, right. I ended up tagging on a school tour for a bit. I had done some history stuff in Sydney, but this was focused on South Australia, which was interesting. They had quite alot of primary source material. They talked about all the different groups that had come to Adelaide and their struggles. They also featured a global timeline with an Australia specific timeline underneath, which I really found interesting. I also watched some videos on Reconciliation which were very informative and history of the racial politics.

Then I went to rundle and got some awesome Pot Stickers. Then to end my Rundle adventures, I explored all the alleys I hadn't been to including the Arcade.

ran into some mounted police on the way home.

and then had a mutant orange. An orange in a orange.... inception.
