New Zealand Driving Tour / Lake Wanaka

So we decided to drive all the way from queenstown to Nelson (to see a national park/enjoy the general scenery). So it was more of a road trip than a backpacking trip. But the thing is, though its hard to believe, the south island is pretty big. Here is a map so you can sorta orient yourselves in what I'm talking about.

So we eventually, after much debate decided to get to Greymouth in one day. This is quite a long way to go, I think it ended up being at least 8 hours. But anyways, we first wanted to stop at Lake Wanaka. This was a great decision. It was amazing. We also go to see it from a different angle later in our driving trip.  Here are some pics.

From the other angle

Here are some pictures out the window/pit stops. I think this illustrates the cut/paste scenery I was talking about. We did visit the Frans Joseph Glacier, but it was raining so hard, none of the pictures came out.

We then stayed at the cutest hostel called the Global Village, that even had a movie room where we watched Thelma and Louise. Off the Nelson Tomorrow!
