Sydney With the Fam Day 1

So I just finished up exploring Sydney with the family. It was so busy. We walked SO MUCH, skipped a couple meals, had fancy meals and ordered a lot of Long Blacks. It was pretty wild. Though on the plane it felt like forever, it felt crazy that you can pop on a plane and end up half way across the world. Well we started off the week bright and early at 7am sydney time after 14 hours of flying. Unwilling to give into sleep we took to the streets walking the Rocks (more on that later) and to the Customs House. Not only does it look cool on the outside,

the inside has a miniature scale model of Sydney under glass (as well as free wifi)

We then moseyed over to the Royal Botanic Gardens that were right near our hotel. We wandered though acres of gardens.

We did so much wandering that we ended up at the Governors House. It looked like Downton Abby so we quickly signed up for a tour since that was the only way you could see the house.

Well after a half house of waiting we got in. And all I can comment is WOW it was boring. I could have used this woman's lecture and slept much better on the plane over. Everything was this governor changed the tile that governor put this room in. Her voice was amazingly shrill I was a little impressed. I did get a preview of many of the fine freaky men that appear on the Australian currency like this hunk.

Still the house was pretty cool looking, very elaborate. I even got to see how some guy made his family crest (and see a bunch others) However when the 45 minute tour turned into a 1:15 minute + tour, we had to make a break for it out the back. (We had to get to the opera house tour) Still here's a picture of the only room I could take a picture of.

Next was the Opera House Tour! It was a VERY bright and sunny day, so it looked great. We were very excited to see it. Little did we know that half of the tourist attractions to come include looking at the building (from different angles OF COURSE).

We even got to see the Harbor Bride! TOO COOL. (we took way too many pictures of both these monuments)

Anyways, It turns out it was the start of the Chinese New Year when we got there, so there were a lot of loud drumming in the waiting period and even a dance.
Finally we got our audio headpiece (to hear the guide better) and were off! We learned about the trials and tribulations of picking the design of the building, the engineering of the building, the employment drama, building changes and of course a tour of all the different theaters.

We even got to see a room completely designed by the building's architect tapestry and all .

After we finished the tour we got our tickets to see an Opera's greatest hits show, reserved for Sundays.

Despite being distracted by jetlag and Uni situations, the show was quite enjoyable. Very short and sweet and everybody was very talented. Though was I excited to hit the bed which happened not too long after we got back to our hotel.
